Dear Friends of ANCL,

Most of us by know are aware of the earthquake and Tsunami today in Japan.  ANCL has three of our Global Partners (ANCL Alumni) in Japan.

Both Elisabeth Jury and Micah & Jessica Irwin are safe.

Elisabeth wrote – “Hey, so as you may have heard, a huge earthquake hit tokyo today at the end of school, it was pretty scary. I felt like i was on a boat getting seasick and was wondering if the building would withstand it…which it did.  We evacuated to the tennis courts, girls crying and just so scared.  It was the biggest one that has hit here in awhile and I’d never felt one but I don’t want to feel it again. Things were falling off shelves and yeah, I’m thankful all is okay. We are still outside, not allowed to go inside and waiting to see what’s next. You could really feel the aftershock too. Anyways, just wanted to let you know I’m safe and love you all SO much!”

Jessica wrote – ”we’re alright! Having some internet problems so I’m not able to write back to a lot of people.”

Please continue to pray for Japan and for the people who are struggling with this crisis.  As with all crises there are both questions like “why God?” and often an unusual openness to God.  Please pray for families who have lost loved ones and for those who are injured.

God is our refuge and strength

Always ready to help in times of trouble.

So we will not fear when earthquakes come

And the mountains crumble into the sea.

Let the oceans roar and foam.

Let the mountains tremble as the waters surge

Be still, and know that I am God!

I will be honored by every nation

I will be honored throughout the world
